5 MAY – WE’RE PROTESTING!

Day of protest for inclusion, rights and accessibility

📅 5 May 2026
🕕 5 pm
📍 Hamburg, St. Pauli, Arrivatipark (13 Beim Grünen Jäger/turning circle)

On 5 May, we’re taking to the streets in Hamburg because accessibility is still not a given. The current reform of the Disability Equality Act threatens to further entrench barriers rather than effectively enforce rights. That is precisely what we are protesting against.

We demand mandatory accessibility, enforceable rights and genuine participation – in everyday life, housing, education, work, mobility, sport and culture.

Join us. Make your voices heard. For our rights.

Route

Start / Opening rally:
5.00 pm – Arrivatipark, Beim Grünen Jäger 13 / turning circle

Planned route:
Wohlwillstraße → Paulinenplatz → Hein-Hoyer-Straße → Budapester Straße → Millerntorplatz → Reeperbahn

Closing rally:
approx. 7.15 pm – Spielbudenplatz

We’re taking to the streets and we’re taking our time.
The march is tailored to the people walking and cycling along.

We’ll wait for one another and leave no one behind.

Accessibility information

We want to make the march as accessible as possible and are providing transparent updates on the current situation here.

Sign language interpreting will be provided during the march.

There are potholes and uneven surfaces at some points along the route.

In places, the road narrows; at one point, the kerb creates a short bottleneck or small barrier.

There is a short stretch of cobblestones at Paulinenplatz.

We will ensure that the march adapts accordingly:
We will slow down, wait for one another and support each other.

If you have any questions about accessibility or need to assessWenn du Fragen zur Zugänglichkeit hast oder einschätzen möchtest, ob die Strecke für dich passt, melde dich gern bei uns.

Toilets

Publicly known accessible toilets near the starting point include:

in the Rindermarkthalle

at the Paulihaus (availability currently being clarified)

at the Grüner Jäger (availability currently being clarified)

At the finish line / near the closing rally, there is a public accessible toilet in front of the Tanzende Türme, as well as at the Lucullus snack bar.

As soon as we have received definitive confirmation of further facilities, we will update the information here.

Demonstration Consensus

This demonstration is a space of solidarity in the fight against ableism and for inclusion, equality and human rights.

Therefore, there is no place at our demonstration for:

right-wing, fascist or nationalist views

racism, anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim racism

sexism, homophobia, transphobia and anti-feminism

Ableism and other misanthropic crap

We welcome all people of solidarity who take to the streets with us.
At the same time, it is important to us that this space is not co-opted.

Please therefore refrain from bringing party flags and large party political symbols.
Political parties and groups are welcome to join us in solidarity – but this demonstration should visibly be a space by and for disabled people and their allies.

We look out for one another, respect boundaries, give each other space and take responsibility together.
We want to fight together – not over one another. übernehmen gemeinsam Verantwortung.
Wir wollen zusammen kämpfen – nicht übereinander hinweg.

In solidarity and with an intersectional approach

The fight against ableism is not separate from other struggles.
It is linked to the fight against the far right, against racism, against sexism, against queerphobia and against social exclusion.

We welcome everyone who views these struggles in solidarity and joins us on the streets to fight for a fairer society.
